Introducing Polarsteps Plus

For many years, millions of travelers have used Polarsteps for free to plan, track and share their trips. We’re obsessed with creating a beautiful user experience, and we feel both the joy and the responsibility of being brought along with you on your adventures. 

This month we’ve started to gradually roll out Polarsteps Plus. This subscription brings new features to our app, which users can enjoy with monthly or yearly memberships. 

All the Polarsteps features you know and love will remain free to use.

You’ll still be able to plan, track, share, and relive your adventures for free. Friends and family will still be able to follow along with your trips without paying for anything. We’re not taking anything away; we’re adding new features many of our users have asked for. 

We’ll keep adding new core features for free, too. We want to keep improving our product for all our users, not just those paying a subscription. 

Why we’re launching Polarsteps Plus

For years, we’ve been hearing from users about features they’d like to see, and we build and release many of them every month. Having a subscription allows us to bring more of the features that certain users are craving: the hikers doing epic multi-week trips, for example, or the skiers tackling backcountry terrain. While these features aren't a priority for most of our 20+ million users, a subscription allows us to build them for the smaller groups of power users who will really benefit from them.

Plus also helps us grow the business in a way that aligns with our values. Polarsteps is ad-free, and we don't sell user data. Protecting our users' privacy is important to us; after all, people are taking our app with them during some of the most important moments of their lives. With Plus, our success is tied directly to creating a better experience for our users, which is exactly how we think it should be.

What’s included in Plus?

We’ve listened to some of the most frequent requests from our power users. From today, subscribers to Plus will get: 

• 3D maps: see your route on stunning 3D terrain.

• More map-style options: make the map match your trip.

• Play mode: replay your route across every mountain and valley.

• Travel Together perks: add up to 10 Travel Buddies. 

• Advanced step stats: get breakdowns of your climbs, descents, and transport modes.

• Elevation profile: see your elevation charted as you scroll through your trip page.

Users with a yearly subscription will also receive 20% off Travel Books.

You can choose to subscribe monthly for €8.99 and cancel anytime, or annually for €29.99. 

Polarsteps Plus is just beginning; we’ll be adding more features to it over time. We already have a big list of ideas, and we’d love to hear your suggestions. You can also join our Reddit community to share feedback and feature requests.  

We’re excited about this next phase of the Polarsteps journey, and we’re happy to be able to offer additional features for some of our most dedicated users, who have been such an important part of our adventure so far.
